RHS Chelsea Flower Show 2018 Matt Keightley
Staff writer Alys Hurn chats with garden designer Matt Keightley who is stepping away from the show gardens on Main Avenue to create this year’s RHS Feel Good Garden.
Every year at Chelsea Flower Show, the RHS choose a designer to create a feature garden that reflects a campaign close to their heart. Last year, Nigel Dunnet designed the RHS Greening Grey Britain Garden, to encourage the public to maximise on usable green space and in 2016 Ann Marie Powell championed the health and wellbeing benefits of greening-up urban spaces with her RHS Greening Grey Britain for Health, Happiness and Horticulture garden.
In this episode, I chat to Matt Keighley who is stepping away from Main Avenue, where he’s previously won BBC People’s Choice Award for Best in show in 2014 and 2015, to create this year’s RHS Feel Good garden. Matt begins by telling me the story behind the design.
It's the first garden I've done at Chelsea that will be open to the public and the public will be encouraged to move through it, so it will be fascinating to see how that works in such a busy environment.
