Dobbies Garden Centres to recycle plastic plant pots
The UK garden centre has announced it will accept returned plastic garden pots and trays
A new plastic plant pot and tray return centre has been announced by Dobbies Garden Centres.
The British garden centre chain, which has centres throughout the UK, has announced it will accept old, washed, non-polystyrene plastic plant pots and trays. The centres will take them for free and then ensure they will not end up in landfill.
Marcus Eyles, horticultural director of Dobbies said: "We make it our number one priority to be responsible and care for our environment. Our pot and tray return service is a huge step in the right direction on reducing the environmental impact and a sustainable approach for the future."
- Reuse, reuse, reuse
- Visit the Recycle Now website for details of your local options for recycling
- Buy recycled plastic or biodegradable products where you can
Pots are to be dropped off at an allocated return point in each centre and will then be baled onsite and taken to regional recycling plants where they are processed, turned into plastic pellets and subsequently new plastic items.
Dobbies operates 34 garden centres and restaurants in the UK and was founded in 1865 by James Dobbie.
